First "evolving" labeling machine

• The new HERMA 652B system specializes in cost-efficient top and/or base labeling of box-shaped products.

• The kicker: the system features HERMA basic labelers which can be easily replaced by high-performance

HERMA 400 labelers if required.

• This results in a considerably reduced investment volume while maximizing forward compatibility.

This is future-proof: At the Anuga FoodTec in Cologne (hall 7.1, booth E049) HERMA introduces the first “evolving” labeling machine. The HERMA 652B system specializes in the top and/or base labeling of box-shaped products. By default, it features one or two HERMA basic labelers, allowing users cost-efficient access to state-of-the-art labeling technology. At a speed of 25 metres per minute / about 100 labels per minute, even the basic version of the HERMA 652B is quite the workhorse and manages both top and base labeling in one time-saving work step. A keypad with a display enables users to set the exact speed, and the integrated controller renders external control cabinets unnecessary. The machine processes label sizes between 12 x 12 and 160 x 400 mm.

Quick and versatile changeovers
However, the kicker is that the machine can be easily retrofitted with one or two HERMA 400 labelers – probably the world’s best-selling high-performance labeler – should requirements regarding labeling speed, precision, and functions become more demanding over time. To enable that, the HERMA basic was developed with connection points identical to those of the HERMA 400. “For users, this means a considerably smaller investment volume compared to a system that features a HERMA 400 from the start”, says Matthias Holder, sales director at HERMA. “This puts some limits on performance and ease of operation. But especially in smaller businesses and when introducing new products, it is often hard to estimate the labeling output that is needed in the medium term. For such cases, the HERMA 652B provides an extraordinary degree of forward compatibility.”

Versatility and economy
In addition, the new labeling machine features a variable speed conveyor belt and can be easily integrated into existing production lines. Additionally, it can process a wide range of product formats – the maximum product size is 260 x 280 mm (w x h) with any length. Various application mechanisms can be used depending on the structure of the surfaces that need to be labeled. By default, label transfer is carried out via a rigid beak with a roller, a spring-loaded roller, or a brush. A pneumatic pivot beak is optionally available. “The HERMA 652B enables quick, flexible, and economic reactions to market changes. That is an essential advantage for users in small and medium-sized companies in the food industry where profit margins are often slim, allowing them to stay competitive”, adds Martin Kühl, head of HERMA’s Labeling Machines Division.

By default, the HERMA 652B reaches the considerable labelling speed of 25 metres per minute. If required, this speed can later be more than tripled by installing HERMA high-performance labellers.
